What is Love?

Over the last few years, I have been trying to define and refine what I thought it was. Last night, as part of the couple counseling that we have to attend as Catholics, I saw a parallel of the things that I have concluded.

Love is not a feeling. It is not the feeling you get when you see someone you are attracted to. Instead, love is the commitment of two people to live life as one. It is the commitment to another person.

I like that definition. It does not mean that you will lose yourself in the other person. You can still be the individual that you are. You will have your own opinions and thoughts.

As part of the seminar/counseling, we also got to take a test about our relationship. The rate of divorce is 50% now. In the test, there were many questions about money. More questions than about sex. It kinda tells you that divorce can be traced to the practice of money.
